I think we don’t realize what we have until it gets taken out of our usual routine. When I visited Europe, I definitely noticed the customer service and the random friendliness lacking. Like you said, here in the US, I think we just set our standards high and are used to it as just a normal part, which I find a bit ironic. Having worked in customer service multiple times at different businesses, even the customer service in the US isn’t up to par with many people’s expectations and you still end up pissing off a ton of people. I think that’s also where the stereotype of the French being rude. Honestly, some were but others weren’t, but in comparison to the US it does come off that way. Just interesting how similar but how different we are in the US compared to Europe. Thanks for sharing!

It’s amazing the little things that we miss when we travel abroad, and it’s so refreshing to see such positive feedback about things in America that you miss. I would definitely miss Mexican food! haha. Happy travels!

We do have some massive stores in England too though, especially in the industrial estates at the outskirts of cities. Netherlands is a small country and I do remember from my trip to Rotterdam how small everything was though.

It’s about people, service, camaradarie, big spaces, travel and so much more. Truly get your being homesick. Your focusing on the positives of the place you call home now is the key. This is how you’ve just unlocked a true gift inside – appreciation.
