I’m a California girl born and raised in the sunny city of Los Angeles. So yes, anything under 70F is cold, hiking on the weekend is my go-to and street tacos are life. Although I’m a Los Angeleno at heart and gravitate back to this city, my curiosity and desire to live in and experience other countries is far much greater.
Marie is my middle name and I used to write under this blog name when I was a teenager of my aspiring hopes and dreams to travel, explore and live in different countries. I made a mood board when I was 16 consisting of all my travel destinations that an old friend would make fun of and call ‘cute & charming’. Soon enough, ‘Charmingmarie’ became my new nickname and the title of my teenage blog chronicling my travels and wishes to further traverse the world and its magical territories.
Fast forward 6 years later and I never imagined that I would be an expat living in different European countries. My work and studies led me to being an expat in London, Paris and Amsterdam, traveling to new countries and experiencing the beauty of so many different cultures. This was my 16 year old self wildest dream!
However, emigrating countries all these years, I recounted my stories and experiences solely through photos. Writing has always been a solace for myself so I would love to put the words to these photos and share with you my journey living in another country.
Currently I am residing in the charming city of Utrecht, Netherlands. Come join me on the adventures (and struggles) of navigating this country, the language and all things Dutch. I’ll also be sharing my travel tips, advice and recipes in the kitchen!
