Eccentric, eclectic, and effortlessly cool, Venice has its own unique charm and distinct identity. Renowned for its artistic community and laidback beach culture, this neighborhood draws visitors worldwide. Let’s dive into the number of fun activities to do in this lively beach town.

1. Explore Abbot Kinney Boulevard

This mile-long block is arguably the “hippest street” in California and an essential part of the Venice experience. While streets come and go in Los Angeles, Abbot Kinney continues to rank high on the list. As you wander down this eclectic boulevard, you’ll encounter high-end boutiques, trendy restaurants, and funky street art.

However, Abbot Kinney’s transformation into its current state did not happen overnight. Named after an American real estate developer, this
street has undergone significant changes over the course of a century. In its earlier days, it was a gritty and artist-friendly enclave, that attracted creatives from all walks of life.

Today, while it may have embraced some gentrification, it still retains echoes of its artistic past, making it an alluring blend of old and new.

2. Go on a walking tour of Venice’s street art

Venice has a rich artistic heritage, and to this day, it continues to inspire and attract talented artists from all walks of life. One of the most fun activities you can engage in is going on a walking tour of the neighborhood’s street art.

To make the most of your street art experience, hire a knowledgeable guide who can provide insights into the artists, their techniques, and the stories behind each piece. But you can also explore at your own pace, take a self-guided walking tour and allow the street art to guide your journey.

3. Indulge in artisanal coffee at Intelligentsia

For all the coffee snobs and lovers this hip coffee spot is the place to be. Located on the trendy Abbot Kinney Boulevard, Intelligentsia has a nice industrial vibe.

They have a nice selection of beans, tasty brews, and specialty coffees sure to please any palate. All their drinks are prepared by expert baristas whole put love into their craft. After you grab a coffee here you’ll understand why it’s always so busy; I can’t recommend this place enough.

4. Discover the best of Venice Beach

You’ve seen it in movies, tv shows, and music videos, Venice Beach is no doubt an essential and iconic part of the Los Angeles experience. While the reality may differ slightly from what you’ve seen on the big screen, visitors worldwide come to witness this vibrant place in person.

As you stroll along the boardwalk, notice the melange of sights and sounds that truly embody the spirit of Venice Beach. Street performers give live performances while vendors sell a number of knick-knacks from tattoos to vintage DVDs.

It’s all reminiscent of an old flea market and really adds to the boho and eclectic vibe that Venice is known for. Take your time to explore the stalls and discover the hidden treasures to take home as mementos.

5. Hangout at the skatepark and catch some action

A visit to Venice Beach wouldn’t be complete without checking out the infamous skatepark. It’s a hub for talented skateboarders and roller skaters showcasing their skills and honing their craft.

The skatepark, free and open to the public, serves as the perfect gathering spot to hang out, people-watch, and catch a sunset. Whether you’re a seasoned skater or a sports enthusiast, don’t miss the opportunity to bring your skates or skateboard and practice your skills.

6. Go for a cruise along the coast

When it comes to things to do in Venice Beach, cruising along the coast is a must-do. The bike path spans approximately 22 miles, stretching from Pacific Palisades to Palos Verdes, providing the most beautiful scenic views.

As a Los Angeles native, I love biking these pathways because it’s a good excuse for me to get some exercise while having some fun in the sun. However, cruising by bike isn’t the only option. Why not bring your roller skates, rollerblades, or even a scooter to add a unique twist to your coastal exploration?

7. Stroll along the Venice canals

Resembling the canals in Italy, this is a unique destination with picturesque bridges set along charming waterways. It’s serene, quiet, and the perfect place to take a leisurely stroll. This residential area is a juxtaposition to the bustling nature found in Venice Beach a few blocks away.
